Located in Toorak, Melbourne, St. Kevin’s College is an all-boys school offering primary and secondary education and has an array of sporting facilities within their sporting fields.
Recently, Furphy Foundry provided a new Players/Coaches Shelter for the school grounds. It was customised with a viewing platform on the top, at the request of the customer. We were able to design this shelter with platform based on our standard design while utilising the area’s natural topography, reducing supply and further construction costs.
The entire structure was made in steel and finished with Berry Grey powder coating to match the existing school structures. The shelter roof was Colorbond XRW grade roof sheets while shatter and UV resistant perspex sheets were added to the shelter’s walls to protect people inside from any weather events. One of our Woodgrove Benches was also added to the inside of the shelter which provides comfortable seating for the players and/or coaches. For easy access, a steel staircase leading to the top platform was added.
Furphy Foundry completed the in-house custom design, while installation was by Urban Plumb and Scape. We have liaised with Anthony Johnson at St. Kevin’s College Facilities regarding their requirements, then ensuring the design would meet/exceed all building construction codes and standards Geoff Nixon and Associates Pty Ltd. certified the design.
