Sports shelters for K.P Hardiman Reserve, Darebin
K.P Hardiman Reserve in Darebin, Victoria is one of the 176 parks in the area notable for its outdoor recreational services. It houses sporting fields for hockey and football which are located in an area adjacent to the Plenty Road entrance. There was only one basic shelter for the Hockey field where the coaches, players and spectators together shared this limited resource. Furphy Foundry engineered, modified, manufactured, supplied and installed two (2) additional shelters based on our ‘Players/Coaches Shelter’ range.
We provided one (1) players/coaches shelter which was structurally re-engineered from our base design to account for the extended length of 6m. This allowed enough seating capacity for the players and coaches. The one (1) smaller shelter, on the other hand, has a length of 3m with a customised extended front return to act as a servery for BBQs while Hockey is being played on the sports oval.
To ensure our shelters have longevity and high strength in these tough sporting environments, they were constructed with steel frames and powder coated in a Charcoal finish. We modified the standard range of Furphy Foundry Players/Coaches Shelters with perforated mesh windows instead of our standard UV resistant Perspex, we also added aluminium extrusion benches resulting in very little to no maintenance requirements. The roofing was made with Colorbond steel roof sheeting to match the Charcoal powder coat finish which delivers the highest of UV resistance with low maintenance.
These shelters were pre-manufactured in the factory and then freighted fully assembled and unloaded safely and efficiently via a hiab on the truck onto a newly prepared concrete slab with minimum site disturbance. This made installation extremely quick, positioning and bolting down each shelter within 30 minutes, the seating was then put into place and bolted down. This resulted in minimal site disturbance and disruption to the whole area reducing time on site significantly.
