Budding urban designers have supplied the inspiration for a unique set of Bike Racks Furphy Foundry has built for Maribyrnong Council.
With the Council seeking to promote more bike riding in region, it was decided last year to launch a competition asking secondary and primary school students to design their most amazing Bike Racks – and the crocodile and dragon were chosen as winners.
Working from the children’s ideas, Furphy used laser cutting tools to craft the designs from 6 and 8 mm bent steel, incorporating the elements into its existing line of stainless steel, Single Bike Racks.
The “Dragon” Bike Rack was installed in Jensen Reserve in Footscray, and the crocodile is at McNish Reserve.
