Furphy Supports Education in Myanmar

It’s a long way from the Furphy Foundry in Shepparton, but the Myanmar village of Lwe Kin is the beneficiary of the iconic Australian company.

A small village in the mountains near Inle Lake, Lwe Kin is home to very poor farmers. The Government in Burma (Myanmar) gives very little money for education.

Furphy Foundry recently stepped into the breach with funding to support the building of a house for local school teachers.

Without this building, the basic fact is that the 40-odd children in the village would not receive an education.

By building a house for the teachers it will mean they can stay on site, rather than walk two hours each day – to and from.
