New School Welcomes Bus Shelters

With 1200 students attending the recently built Bannockburn College in Victoria, creating a safe bus transit zone was an important part of the multi-million-dollar project.

The Golden Plains Shire identified Furphy’s customised Hume Bus Shelters as the ideal solution.

Three Hume Bus Shelters were built for the school, customised to double their normal length, and painted in the school colours.

They were installed right on time – during the school holidays and just before the children returned.

Hume Bus Shelters are built with mild steel Duragal, with perforated mesh at the top half and Duragal sheeting at the bottom. They include integrated drainage, and can be easily moved with thanks to lugs on the roof frame.

Bannockburn is a rural township near Geelong, 93 km south-west of Melbourne. Bannockburn P-12 College is a new school, which includes the relocated Bannockburn Primary School.

As the first secondary school in the Golden Plains Shire, Bannockburn P-12 College has been built to accommodate the enrolment demand for secondary education in the area. The prep to Year 6 component will accommodate 475 students and the Year 7 to 12 component will accommodate 720 students.
