Furphy Foundry is proud to be part of the newly opened Julia Gillard Library in Tarneit. The new library officially opened its doors on February 3rd 2016 to promote learning and growth to Tarneit residents by providing them access to a wide range of resources. It was named after Australia’s first female Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, who served the country for three years.
Furphy Foundry provided a double-configuration Chaise Lounge placed in the outdoor area to give a relaxing seating style for users to experience. This Chaise provides a relaxed seating style where users can unwind and enjoy the outdoor setting while reading a book. Constructed with hardwood timber slats and steel frames in a double-configuration size of 1200mm, this seat allows comfortable seating for two as well.
We have also provided two Metro Seats which present a contemporary design that matches the library’s aesthetics. The seat armrests, straps and fixings are made with 304 grade stainless steel while the ends were constructed in cast aluminium. Cutek treated hardwood timber slats make up the seat and backrest which provides comfort and style to the area. These Metro seats came in a standard 1800mm length and were installed by bolting them directly to the surface paved area provided.
A Metro Picnic Setting was added to a corner which completes the outdoor design architecture of the library. This customised picnic setting provides more seating capacity for visitors to read, unwind and relax in the library grounds.
These furniture all complemented each other well with their hardwood and design aesthetic while seamlessly blending in the design aesthetics of the library.
