Toowoomba Regional Council and Furphy Foundry has finished a major road works upgrade to Victoria Street that runs alongside the railway station. Part of this upgrade was to have a contemporary up to date presence but relating back to the heritage of the railway.
Queensland railway is celebrating 150 years, and it’s really special as there are very few 150 year services and businesses. As you might be aware Furphy Foundry holds this close to our hearts as we are also 150 years old and at the 5th generation of the family. Another great 150 year old business is Arnott’s Biscuits, and to be placed in this league of Australian icons is both humbling and something to be proud of.
The development of the streetscape included the use of Furphys Fulcrum Benches which are installed along approximately 400m coordinated through Probuild.
The benches were selected with a raw cast aluminium finish as part of the contemporary look and the tough hardwood with Cutek CD50 extreme stain softens the hard surrounding finishes.
As you can see it seems to have the perfect blend between old and new highlighting the versatility and simple contemporary design that won’t date for years to come whatever happens to the surrounding area.
