Mount Waverley Timber Park Setting

Located approximately 16 kilometres south-east of Melbourne CBD, Mount Waverley is one of 14 suburbs in the City of Monash, Melbourne. It is a large suburb with significant areas of remnant native bushland and wetlands. Over the years, Mount Waverley has developed into an urban community. Meanwhile, some areas were able to preserve their natural resources. An example of this is the Valley Reserve where significant flora and fauna species can be found.

Valley Reserve is considered to be of Regional Zoological Significance as it became an important habitat to 55 native species including several plant species. The site was upgraded with a park, playspace, Picnic Settings and BBQ Facilities so families can spend valuable time together. Furphy Foundry manufactured 18 custom seats for the reserve to allow more visitors to the area. The seats were designed in accordance to the Monash City style guide.

The seat body, backrest and armrests were made using spotted gum timber with a natural finish. Hot dipped galvanised mild steel made up the posts and frames which were finished with a standard two-pack paint system in charcoal. The seats were manufactured as a removable in-ground attachment using a Gib and key system.

Furphy Foundry was awarded a three-year supply tender for the City of Monash.
